Dooradoyle is one of Limerick's most established and densely populated suburbs — a large, well-developed residential area on the southside of the city, home to the Crescent Shopping Centre, Limerick's main retail hub, and a wide mix of housing estates built predominantly from the 1970s through to the 2000s. From the older estates closest to the city boundary to the newer developments further out along the Ballinacurra and Raheen Road corridors, Dooradoyle is a diverse and thriving community — and one that Doherty Roofing knows well.
We provide professional roofing services to homeowners throughout Dooradoyle and the surrounding southside area. Whether you need an urgent repair following storm damage, a full roof replacement on an ageing property, new guttering and fascia, or a professional roof clean to tackle the moss and algae growth that affects so many of the area's older concrete tile roofs, Jim and his team will respond promptly, assess the situation honestly and carry out lasting work you can rely on.
We are fully insured and Safe Pass certified, and we provide free, no-obligation quotes on all roofing work across Dooradoyle. There are no call-out fees and no pressure to proceed.

Yes, absolutely. Properties built in the 1970s and 1980s across Dooradoyle are now reaching an age where the original underlay, battens and fixings are at or approaching the end of their serviceable life. A professional inspection will identify whether your roof is still performing well or whether repairs or replacement work should be considered. Doherty Roofing provides free roof inspections across Dooradoyle with no obligation to proceed.

Yes. Moss on a concrete tile roof retains moisture against the tile surface, accelerating deterioration and increasing the risk of frost damage during cold spells. It can also physically lift tiles over time as the moss cushions thicken. We carry out professional softwash roof cleaning across Dooradoyle that removes moss safely and effectively without damaging the tile surface — contact us for a free assessment.
Yes. Doherty Roofing is fully insured with public liability cover and our team are Safe Pass certified. We are happy to confirm our insurance details on request.
The vast majority of homes across Dooradoyle were built between the 1970s and the early 2000s — and this matters enormously when it comes to roofing. Properties of this age are now hitting the stage of their lifecycle where roofing issues become increasingly common and where the cost of ignoring problems escalates quickly.
Concrete interlocking tiles are the dominant roof covering across Dooradoyle's housing estates. While concrete tiles are a durable and practical roofing material, they do have a finite lifespan and a specific set of vulnerability points that homeowners in the area should be aware of. The mortar bedding on ridge tiles hardens and cracks over time, allowing ridges to become loose and eventually displaced. Surface granules on older tiles erode, reducing their weather resistance. Moss and algae growth is particularly prevalent on the north and west-facing slopes of concrete tile roofs — and Dooradoyle's southside location means many properties face the prevailing Atlantic weather directly.
On older properties in established Dooradoyle estates, the underlay beneath the tiles — often the original felt installed during construction — may now be at or beyond the end of its serviceable life. When underlay fails, it ceases to provide the secondary line of defence against wind-driven rain that keeps the roof space dry even when individual tiles are displaced or damaged. If your property in Dooradoyle was built in the 1980s and has not had a roof replacement or major overhaul since construction, an inspection is a worthwhile investment.
