Corbally is one of Limerick's most distinctive and well-established residential areas — a northside suburb that stretches along the southern bank of the Shannon, from the edges of the city centre out through a mix of older terraced streets, long-established housing estates and more recently developed residential areas. It is a community with genuine character, a wide range of property types and — from a roofing perspective — one of the most varied and interesting areas we work in across the city.
Doherty Roofing provides professional roofing services to homeowners throughout Corbally and the surrounding northside area. Whether you need an urgent repair on an older terraced property, a full roof replacement on a 1970s or 1980s estate house, new guttering and fascia, or professional attention to a chimney that has been deteriorating quietly for years, Jim and his team will respond promptly, assess your roof honestly and carry out lasting work to the highest standard.
We are fully insured and Safe Pass certified, and we provide free, no-obligation quotes on all roofing work in Corbally. There are no call-out fees and no pressure to proceed.

Corbally's housing stock is one of the most varied of any Limerick suburb — and that variety matters enormously when it comes to roofing. Unlike the predominantly 1980s and 1990s concrete tile estates of the southside, Corbally contains a significant number of older properties — terraced houses, older semi-detached homes and period properties that predate the large-scale suburban development that shaped much of Limerick's newer residential areas.
Older properties in Corbally are far more likely to feature natural slate roof coverings than the concrete tiles common across newer parts of the city. Natural slate is an outstanding roofing material that can last well over a hundred years — but it requires a roofer who genuinely understands how to work with it. Matching replacement slates correctly, identifying nail failure rather than assuming the slates themselves are at fault, and knowing when a slate roof can be repaired versus when it needs to be re-slated are all areas where genuine expertise makes a significant difference to the quality and longevity of the repair.
Corbally's location along the Shannon also creates specific roofing considerations that are entirely absent from most other parts of the city. The river corridor channels and amplifies wind, meaning properties along and close to the riverbank are exposed to stronger, more directional wind pressure than equivalent properties further from the water. This wind exposure accelerates the deterioration of mortar pointing on ridges and chimney stacks, stresses flashings and upstands, and is a significant factor in storm damage patterns across the area. At Doherty Roofing, we understand how Corbally's riverside setting influences the roofing demands of properties in the area — and we factor that understanding into every inspection and repair recommendation we make.
