Newcastle West is the largest town in West Limerick and the commercial and service hub for a wide rural catchment that stretches across some of the most exposed and weather-challenged terrain in the entire county. As a market town with a long history — its origins rooted in the medieval FitzGerald castle that still stands at its centre — Newcastle West has a diverse and genuinely interesting mix of property types, from older town centre buildings and traditional terraced streets to established housing estates, newer residential developments and the wide variety of rural farmhouses and agricultural properties in the surrounding countryside.
At Doherty Roofing, we provide professional roofing services to homeowners and property owners across Newcastle West and the wider West Limerick area. Whether you are in the town itself or in one of the many rural townlands and villages in the surrounding catchment, Jim and his team will travel to your property, inspect your roof thoroughly and deliver the honest, reliable service that has built Doherty Roofing's reputation across County Limerick.
We are fully insured and Safe Pass certified, and we provide free, no-obligation quotes on all roofing work across Newcastle West and West Limerick. There are no call-out fees and no pressure to proceed.
We offer a comprehensive range of domestic roofing services to homeowners across Limerick and the surrounding counties. Whatever your roofing needs, your local roofers Limerick have you covered.
Blocked, cracked or sagging gutters can lead to water damage on your walls, foundations and fascia boards. We repair and realign guttering systems of all types, clearing blockages, sealing joints and replacing damaged sections to ensure rainwater is directed safely away from your home.
A damaged or deteriorating chimney can allow water into your home and cause serious structural issues over time. We carry out all chimney repair work including repointing, flashing repairs, lead replacement and chimney stack rebuilds, restoring full weatherproofing to your roof.
From minor leaks to cracked or damaged glazing, we provide fast, reliable skylight repairs for all skylight types across Limerick, Clare and Tipperary. We carry out a permanent, lasting fix — whether it's a failed seal, a damaged frame or a cracked pane — not a temporary patch that fails at the next downpour.
When repair is no longer the right option, Doherty Roofing provides full roof replacements for domestic properties of all sizes. We manage the entire process from initial assessment to completion, using quality materials suited to the Irish climate and ensuring a clean, professional finish every time.
Flat roofs are particularly vulnerable to ponding water and membrane deterioration over time. We diagnose and repair all flat roof issues quickly and effectively, addressing leaks, blistering and joint failures with high-performance materials that restore full weatherproofing and extend the life of your roof.
Slate is one of the most durable roofing materials available, but individual slates can crack, slip or become dislodged over time. We source matching natural and fibre cement slates to carry out seamless repairs that blend with your existing roof and restore its integrity against the elements.
When a storm causes sudden damage or a leak develops without warning, you need a roofer who responds quickly. Doherty Roofing prioritises urgent calls from homeowners across Limerick, Clare and Tipperary, getting to your property as soon as possible to make it safe and weatherproof.
Fascia and soffit boards protect the edges of your roof from moisture and provide a clean, finished appearance. We supply and install quality uPVC fascia and soffit systems that are durable, low maintenance and built to withstand the year-round demands of the Irish weather.
Metal roofing is an increasingly popular choice for both new builds and replacement roofs, offering exceptional durability, longevity and weather resistance. We install and repair metal roofing systems for domestic properties, providing a modern, low-maintenance solution that performs reliably for decades.

If there is one thing that defines roofing in West Limerick, it is the weather. Newcastle West and the surrounding area sit in one of the most Atlantic-exposed parts of the county — significantly more exposed to the prevailing south-westerly winds and the heavy, wind-driven rainfall that rolls in off the ocean than properties in Limerick city or the more sheltered eastern parts of the county.
The practical consequence of this exposure is that roofs in and around Newcastle West work significantly harder than equivalent roofs elsewhere in County Limerick. Ridge mortar fails faster under repeated wind stress. Flashings are subjected to sustained lateral wind pressure that lifts and works them loose over time. Slates and tiles in exposed positions are dislodged more frequently during storm events. Guttering systems bear the full force of heavy Atlantic rainfall and need to be in good working order to handle the volumes of water they are required to manage.
This is not a reason to be alarmed — it is simply a reason to take roof maintenance and prompt repair seriously. A roof in good condition will handle the West Limerick climate without difficulty. A roof with latent faults — a loose ridge tile, a lifted flashing, a section of deteriorating mortar — becomes a problem in the first significant storm. At Doherty Roofing, we understand the specific demands that the Atlantic climate places on roofs in the Newcastle West area and we factor that understanding into every inspection and recommendation we make.
